Dream big or go home, right?
And since this IS about my home, I’m dreaming REALLY big.
If money was not an object, I would want a large greenhouse, with built in sprinklers and heat system so it would be useable all winter long. Snow would melt right off the really thick glass roof so it would not get too heavy and break. The melted snow (and rain in the summer) would be captured as grey water to be used to water the plants. It would have solar power to power both the heat and sprinkler system but would have regular power if the days were too cloudy to charge it.
I would build an observatory over the top level of my home so I could see the stars at night. To make it even higher and more stable, I would likely add another floor to the house which would hold bedrooms and an additional bathroom. Then above that would be the observatory with a state-of-the-art telescope that would be able to turn 360 to see all around. I would also be able to step outside to take normal astrophotography or just enjoy the view. This area would have seats.
I would remodel the main bathroom and put in heated floors and make it have a walk-in shower instead of the tub / shower mix. (Since the floor above would have the shower / tub, it would not decrease the value of the home). That bathroom needs new counter and I don’t know if I want it to continue to have two sinks or just one. It also needs more electrical outlets.
We would have the money to make the TARDIS room truly spectacular and be able to display all our Doctor Who stuff.
I want a balcony off our bedroom so we can sit outside and enjoy beautiful days but covered and protected so we can also sit out there during rainy days.
I would like to add a roof and a full wrap around porch with a swing.
We’d fix up CoC. Put in air conditioning and whatever John wanted to do. We would expand it with a covered walkway to a new garage that would house Willow (RV) and Shep (small pickup truck) and Morticia (hearse Cadillac) plus extra room to park Raven (truck) and for future vehicles. It would have a pit so that vehicles could be safely worked on without having to put them up on ramps. Additionally we would have another garage for the tractor, mower, snowmobiles, golf cart and 4 wheelers.
We’d add more trees so we could stop seeing the damn neighbors.
I’d clean up paths through the trees and put benches along the path (working on this anyway) and then light the paths with solar lights (also working on this)
Out at Amelia Pond, we would finally build a nice gazebo. It would have screened windows and doors so that we could mostly keep the worst of the bugs out. (I gotta be somewhat realistic right??) There is already power and a sandpoint well out there, so we would be able to fill up the pond. I’d want to buy and place a few more willow trees on the mostly on the Hummock near Haon (willow tree on the other side of the dyke).
And that’s just the beginning.
