My Welcoming to Kali Ritual
CALLING THE QUARTERS
[Facing East] In the East I call Ushas, Goddess of the Dawn, to begin this new cycle and help us see through our illusions and seek the truth. [Facing South] In the South I call Parvati, to bring us the fires of purification so we may be cleansed. [Facing West] In the West I invoke Durga, to teach us to look into the dark places in our beings so that we may not be afraid. [Facing North] In the North I call Sarasvati to bring us wisdom, Her music and dance, so we may be wise in the traditions of the Goddess. As above, so below. What is between the worlds concerns not the worlds, yet will change the worlds! So Mote it Be!
Kali, Dark Mother, Great Goddess, Slayer of Demons and Goddess of Destruction and Creation, Come join me, tonight.
Tonight I will be with the Dark Goddess. Kali will guide me gently back into the womb of night, where I will await my own rebirth. Kali teaches that pain, sorrow, decay, death, and destruction are not overcome by denying or explaining them away. These are inevitable parts of life and denying them is futile. For us to realize the fullness of our being and to realize our potential, we must accept these parts of existence. Kali’s gift is freedom. The freedom of the child to revel in the moment, obtained only after confrontation with or acceptance of death. Kali is Mother, not because She protects us from the way things are, but because She reveals our mortality to us and releases us to act fully and freely; She releases us from the web of pretense, practicality and rationality.
This New Moon celebration is to honor the goddess Kali.
Blessed Goddess!
Bearer of Wisdom and knowledge
Bringer of Age, Keeper of Time
Door of Death and Rebirth
Behold Your Daughter tonight!
The East brings forth Your ancient breath (light sandalwood incense)
The South burns with Your scorching fire (light candle)
The West floods with returning waters (bless water with salt)
The North stirs with the dust of our bodies (anoint body with water)
Waning is Life, but strong is Your will
Goddess of the endless night
Goddess of the sacred word
Goddess of the just revenge
Goddess of Destruction and Creation
I invoke You!
Draw down upon Your Daughter
And share Your sacred gifts
In perfect love and perfect trust
So mote it be!
Kali, the Dark Mother, holds the two edged sword, She has the power to destroy and also the ability to create and protect.
At a certain point it becomes necessary to take Kali’s sword and cut through the illusions that protect us from seeing and acting on the truth. Doing this is the shedding the snake’s skin; letting go of old beliefs and coming closer to our reality. At this time, I will kill my past in Her name. Death to those that have caused me pain, suffering, anger, any and all negative emotions, just to name a few.
See Kali slicing this old life life with Her mighty swords, it is time to begin anew. Death and destruction to everything that once was. There is no looking back, only looking forward. Only a birth, as the past is dead. The memories remain, but they are no part of the new future. The new beginnings. The birth of the new me.
Pay attention to the smell of the incense- Sandalwood – the sacred incense of this Hindu Goddess.
Spend a few moments in this stillness contemplating the beginnings that start now. Ask Kali for Her guidance to follow the right paths, the path that I was always meant to travel, but that which had been hidden from me till now. Enlightenment will come.
When finished with meditation / contemplation:
Goddess of death, destruction,
Prophecy, justice, and vengeance belong to you
Goddess of fiery passion, Queen of my heart
Triple Goddess and so much more
I honor you my Mother, my Matron, I honor you with my heart
and work.
Thank you Great Mother, Kali, for destroying our past, bringing it full circle and ending it. Thank you Kali, for helping me plant new seeds for a new life in your honor. I dedicate myself to you in all your forms. Go if you must, stay if you will.
[Facing North]
Sarasvati, Goddess of the North, we bless thee and release thee.
Go if you must, stay if you will.
Durga, Goddess of the West, we bless thee and release thee.
Go if you must, stay if you will. [Facing South]
Parvati, Goddess of the South, we bless thee and release thee.
Go if you must, stay if you will. [Facing East]
Ushas, Goddess of the East, we bless thee and release thee.
Go if you must, stay if you will.

[…] I’m supposed to do and it’s scary. Last year at Heartland, I got my nudge (shove) and met Kali. Either way, it was an enlightening […]
