TARDIS travel vortex: an explanation that I like

The use of “vortex” is actually spot on. Everything is moving through spacetime and creating a swirl as it orbits a larger object, and larger objects orbit even larger objects, and those objects orbit something we haven’t really pinpointed. So I think it’s “catching a wave” and going to where it needs to go. So just “put in the tape” (catch a wave) and hit “rewind” or “fast forward” through it. Hopping between vortexes is similar as well, because you could stand still, let everything pass you by, and hop onto a different wave as it comes along during the fast forward or rewind.
