I’m probably the only one who feels this way, but as a middle aged reader of paranormal fiction with strong female leads, I do NOT want to be reading about women going through midlife crisis.
That being said, I would not be opposed to reading about female adventurers who start off young and then continue kicking ass into middle age, like Shannon Mayer is doing with her characters, but I have not enjoyed a single “Middle-aged heroines kicking supernatural ass” yet.
Even from authors I enjoy, the stories lose their magic for me. I’m living the midlife thing, I don’t want to read about it too. I simply do not want to read about women going thru menopause, having aches and pains, missing their youth and living in the past.
