Special calendar days of the year

Over the years, I have gathered some favorite days of the year.

I even created an image folder in FB that I can easily grab days and share the memes. (And I worked hard to keep them in order)

One of my favorites, and it probably won’t surprise anyone, is Doctor Who Day, which is the anniversary of the first time the show aired.

My other true favorite is Black Cat Day, dedicated to celebrating the often misunderstood and unfairly stigmatized black cats. The beauty and charm of these feline companions and we should all help dispell the myths and superstitions associated with them. Black cats are just as loving, playful, and intelligent as any other colored kitty.

Talk like a Pirate Day is on September 19th. It encourages people to speak in a pirate-themed lingo, using pirate slang and accents. The day is often accompanied by pirate-themed costumes, decorations, and activities. It’s a lighthearted and playful event that brings people together to have fun and embrace their inner pirate. There was a time when one could change the language on FB to Pirate so everything was argghs and ayes.

Pagan Coming Out day has always been fascinating. I’ve been proud of each and everyone who has chosen this day to come out. Along with that is the International Coming Out Day for LGBT folks. Again, I’ve been so proud of everyone who has come out of the closet.

Some gentler days are Garden Meditation Day, World Meditation Day, Empathy Day, World Sleep Day, International Relaxation Day, and of course the International Day of Happiness.

And of course I cannot leave out Towel Day.   It is held in honor of Douglas Adams, the author of the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy series. The day is a tribute to the iconic towel in the series, which is considered an essential item for any space traveler.

I discovered a Women in Tech Day. April 4th marks the official proclamation of Women in Tech Day, a significant occasion that celebrates and recognizes the achievements of women in the tech industry. Empowering Innovation: Celebrating Women in Technology
On Women in Tech Day, April 4th, we highlight and celebrate the extraordinary achievements of women in the technology sector. Explore the impactful events and initiatives designed to honor their contributions, inspire change, and chart a path toward an empowered future in the tech industry.
